Brief:
Sachyoga is a yogashala based in Hong Kong.
The logo created would be something which
could be put to use in merchandising and
other promotional activities. It would have
to be a design which would at once convey
an Indian feeling yet seem contemporary
and international.
The design would have to be one which the
majority chinese populace didn't find alienating.
Since the yogashala was being run by Kavita
Sachnandani, the logo would also have to
carry part of the originator's identity. |

Strategy:
The letters which could be played around
with are 'K' and 'S', the initials of the
proprietor. Yoga essentially means to 'yoke',
to come together. |

Execution:
The 'S' were arrayed in a circular
form to form a Sun motif which became the
background of the yantra. A devnagri
style S was created and diagonals placed
on it to depict a conjoining of 'K' and
'S', which came together to the square motif
which is similar to both Indian and Chinese
motifs.
The colours used were gold and red, which
are considered auspicious by both Chinese
as well as Indians. |
