The Sentinel
Mummy, Horror/Fantasy/ Sci-fi

Fantasy Illustration:
The Sentinel

Air
The Idea:
The mummy waking up is a hackneyed theme in B-grade horror movies. But what if I could marry myth with technology? Fantasy with Sci-fi?

Fire
The Inspiration:
This image has been inspired by a work of Alan H Okamoto. A brilliant illustrator; printed circuit boards; Mayan glyphs; Indiana Jones adventures

Water
The Story:
Imagine seeking lost treasures when you come across this crypt filled with Mummies, long dead and gone? When on pressing a decoy lever an ancient circuit of long bygone technology is activated, and sentinels, hibernating for eons, are suddenly brought alive...

Earth
 The Execution:
This has been modelled entirely in 2D and then the greyscale images were used as height maps for the terrain editor.
The image consists only of terrain meshes and symmetrical lattices! The face and body of the mummy I created in kpt gel(KPT 6) and exported the height map as a pgm file, which I then imported back into Bryce. I retouched the pgm file in Photoshop. Photoshop doesn't recognise pgm, therefore I used Irfan view, reconverted the file to Tiff and brought it into Photoshop (this was for the face). The only primitives I've used here are the two spheres which make up the eyes and a sphere with a fire material, in his hands.
Beam me up!
