The Idea:
Of the Dinosaurs which I could convert into mechanoids,
it was converting a Pterodactyl which was the
toughest. Not so much in terms of the form, but
to make it into a plausible and believable flying
machine.
The
Inspiration: The history of aviation. Dinosaurs. The first
flying machine were not built for the purpose
of war. Indeed even in WWI when they were first
inducted. They were chiefly used as spotter aircrafts.
The
Story: The dactyls are essentially ore spotting
crafts, which are to lead the mineroids
to mineral deposits. With the onset of
war, the dactyls were re-engineered to
become light fighting crafts. Yet their
chief responsibility still was observation.
The Karnirovs didn't have much
faith in flying weapon systems. This ultimately
proved to be their downfall. Dactyls were
used exclusively by Vorerbs.
The
Execution:
The Dactyls were created completely in Bryce through
primitives and booleans. Partially jet propelled,
and the exhaust distributed (much like an Apache
gunship) so as to offer low heat signature, as
also act as a vector thrust nozzle.
