Raptor Mk II

Type 3D model:
Raptor MkII

The Idea:
This was the first Dinosaur I converted to a mechanoid. Though its supposed to be based on the Oviraptor, I've kept it 'dinosaur' looking rather than strictly design it on the basis of Oviraptor.

Fire
The Inspiration:
Dinosaurs in general. Its somewhere a cross between Iguandon and a Raptor/ Oviraptor.

The Treatment:
Wanted to portray a herbivore dinosaur, but with a raptor feel. It was to look like an industrial machine which had been re-engineered to serve military purpose. Put in a gunner cupola on its back. Reminiscent of WWII bombers. The tail unit contains the fuel in conjoined canisters, which also helps balance the craft.
Also the design has to reflect the philosophy of the Military thinkers. It was designed so that while the pilot would have maximum exposure, and thus was at maximum risk, it also offered them a better view of the battlefield and brought down the response time (much like the philosophy the Israelis used while designing their Merkava battle tank).

Earth
The Execution:
Modelled and rendered in Bryce. Using terrain objects and booleans.
